Cabin's Log: June 2026
Your glimpse into last month's cabin life adventures
Before we get into the month in review, I just really, really need you to know that I am writing this email in the company of 6 ducklings.
After writing this post, I kinda had a crisis about whether we should get more ducklings or not—and the ultimate deciding factor was just how sad our two remaining ducks were. They’d obviously been traumatized by losing their pack leader to a predator and they just seemed so… forlorn. So I did what any reasonable person would do: ordered 6 ducklings to arrive the following week, obviously.

And their presence has been so amazing! Every day is a funny little adventure in seeing how big they’ve gotten, how vocal they’ve become and a constant flood of oxytocin to the brain. Currently their pastimes include devouring borage, screaming for me if they can’t see me and a specific clear plastic IKEA storage tote filled with water and clover.

Aside from keeping six floofy chaos monsters alive, it’s been yet another busy, busy month here at the cabin. I wrapped up two major projects, the guest bathroom and the living room refresh, plus started a new one, the guest nest. I cannot even begin to tell you how much of a relief it’s been to have both of those projects off my plate. It’s fairly obvious why I’m glad the bathroom is finished; after all it went on for over a year. But the living room was a secret I’d been keeping since December 2025!
Some may call me crazy for immediately jumping into a new project, especially because that’s how it appears on social media. But I swear I took a break! And this time I only have small cosmetic updates to do (and finally installing some flooring). I can say with my whole chest that the guest bedroom isn’t going to spiral out of control even remotely like the accompanying bath.

We’ve also been making sure to enjoy the start of summer with trips to our usual swimming holes, plus a canoe excursion. Every time we go out on the water, I immediately want to plan another canoe adventure.
3 Good Things:
Love Island UK is back babyyyyy
We tend to only watch TV in the winter, but my one exception is Love Island, specifically the UK version. It’s just enough drama to entertain me, but it somehow feels less trashy because they’ve got British accents. It also helps that I low-key wish I was British and just plain love British culture.
My current favorite is Jasmine because she really stands on business. She’s entertaining to watch, but you can tell that’s also just how she is in real life. And of course, I’m digging her aesthetic and fashion choices. Are you watching?? What are your thoughts on season 3?
Goose Chacos
Did you know you can order custom Chacos?? I had no idea until I saw one of their Instagram posts, which immediately caused me to personalize and order a pair I definitely don’t need—but also really needed. Sorry, not sorry but that goose print webbing is a must-have.

You can mix and match pretty much every detail of the shoe like the webbing, buckle color and sole color. But here’s what I was most stoked on: the custom embroidery option! Obviouslyyy, I chose goose bye.
you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love
The New Olivia Rodrigo album is giving me LIFE these days. It’s basically on loop at all times (especially as I work on the Guest Nest project). I was about to list off my current fave tracks, but honestly it’s all just so good. I can’t narrow it down.
So that’s the month of June. I hope your month has been good and bringing you moments of joy, in spite of everything. As always, thank you for being part of my community. I’m so lucky to be able to share my life adventures with you.

Reading this now, after seeing today’s Guest Nest post that included the respirator on the door knob has me feeling like you might have played yourself 😂
How’s the book? I enjoyed Addie LaRue very much.
