Subscriptions That Make Remote Living (and life in general??) Easier
And yes, I give our delivery drivers goose eggs!

Boiled down into a nutshell (I’m crap at metaphors), we moved here so we could have a better quality of life—specifically more time in nature and less time doing stuff we don’t want to do. Once of those things is restocking the necessities, or managing the house if you will. Neither of us wants to dedicate the mental bandwidth and energy to do that when it could be put into something more enjoyable… like gardening, hiking or even just napping in the hammock.
Enter subscriptions.
Revolutionary, I know. Here’s the thing: I know city people have subscriptions and that it isn’t exactly a revelatory concept to recommend automated shipping of household goods. But I do think there are subscriptions that go a long way in helping to make remote living more comfortable. And that matters immensely when the power has been out for 4 days, I haven’t seen the sun in weeks and a trip to Costco takes an entire day.
So here are the subscriptions that help to keep me sane and prepared all the way out here.
Disclosure: Many of these links are affiliate links. That being said, I literally use every single item on this list and would never promote something I don’t wholeheartedly recommend.
Who Gives a Crap
Nothing’s worse than running out of toilet paper and having to go to the gas station to get a roll of single ply for $5. And that’s assuming it’s open! Instead, our tp is auto-replenished thanks to Who Gives a Crap. We prefer the bamboo kind—which is also approved by our septic repair guy cuz nothing prepares you for the day the septic decides to be the main character.
Thrive Market
Here’s the thing about me: I love a bougie little treat. Pulled weeds for an hour? Have a treat. Cleared the inbox? Treat. Added a couple extra miles to the daily walk? Treatsssss.
My preferred source is Thrive Market because it’s usually not loaded with weird ingredients, their shipping is shockingly fast (even all the way out here) and their store-brand pantry items are really great quality.
I also lean on Thrive Market when I have guests visiting who have dietary restrictions or allergies. For example, my cousin is vegan and visits every summer, so we always put together an order to make sure she’s got everything she needs on hand and I don’t have to worry about buying the right things.
Laundry Sauce
This is actually a new-ish subscription for our household. Laundry Sauce initially reached out to me to gift a set of their laundry pods—and I fell in LOVE. One of my first jobs was designing candle packaging and part of the job was learning about scents and fragrances. I learned all about fragrance notes and learn to train my nose. Good fragrance is really important to me.
But also the laundry pods actually work well! Our towels not only smell good, but also look cleaner than they have in a while. We are currently using Indonesian Patchouli, but I actually really miss the Australian Sandalwood which I’ll be reordering next. They both smell so high-end without being overwhelmingly strong. If you want to try Laundry Sauce, they were kind enough to give me a promo for you to get 15% off: JOANNA-15.
Chewy and We Feed Raw
Our source for literally everything the dogs need, we’ve set up the dogs’ dry food and flea medications on auto-ship from Chewy to save money and to make sure we don’t ever run out—again, trying to avoid shopping for subpar things at the gas station. The flea meds are especially important so as to avoid getting literal flea typhus again.
We also mix in raw food from We Feed Raw so they have a more diverse diet. Milo is an incredibly picky eater, so the subscription is mostly for him tbh (but trying giving one dog something and see how that goes). The quality is great and we’ve noticed how much shinier their coats are since adding raw food to their diet. We Feed Raw was kind enough to give me a code that gives you 50% off and free shipping: JOJOxWFR.
Tractive
Another subscription that literally keeps me sane is Tractive which is a smart tracking device that I keep on Diamond’s collar. She and I go on a lot of adventures together and she’s not exactly a leash dog. Tractive gives me the peace of mind to know where she is at all times thanks to GPS.
Originally she had an AirTag on her collar, but I learned the hard way that those only work if there are a bunch of Apple devices around for it to ping—aka I couldn’t find her once. It scared the absolute shit out of me, so I don’t take chances anymore.
Again, I’ve got a promo code for you! Use code JOJO40 for 40% off.
Grove
When it comes to household supplies (aside from toilet paper), I prefer to use Grove. I like that I can count on the clean ingredients, fast shipping and overall quality to keep us stocked without having to think about it!
Another code: use JOJOTASTIC25 for 25% off & I’ve linked my personal faves here.
Mistobox
And lastly, a subscription that brought so much joy to my life every single day, but unfortunately has been cut from the household budget. Coffee is one of my few luxuries and Mistobox was amazing for consistently delivery high quality coffee beans from small roasters. It was always so much fun to see which state the coffee was from, plus I learned so much about what I look for in a good cup.
I’m sure there are more subscriptions that I forgot to list! And while I have you… by any chance do you have a recommendation for an online (or regular) pharmacy that mails medications?? I’ve tried Honeybee Health and it was great for while… until it wasn’t and I went through withdrawals on a very important med for two weeks.
Leave a comment with your recs and any other thoughts you have!

I love that coffee subscription box! I don’t care where you live, subscriptions, and things like these that make my life easier and reduce. the mental load are totally worth it!
So much good information here! Sorry, I wish I could make a suggestion on pharmacy products, but I'm clueless.
Yep, those doggies are in top top shape!
